Your Treatment

Referrals

All patients require a referral to an orthopedic surgeon, which can be provided by your family doctor (GP), sports medicine physician, physiotherapist, or another qualified healthcare professional. Our administration team is available to assist with insurance providers and other administrative tasks.

Consultation

Patient consultations are carried out at our clinic on Point Finger Road, following a referral from a GP or qualified health professional. During this time, your surgeon will carry out a full assessment to determine what treatment plan is necessary, which may include surgery, physiotherapy, medication, cortisone shots or a referral to another specialist.

Diagnostic Imaging

All surgeons work one morning a week in KEMH fracture clinic. You may be referred here following a visit to the Emergency Department. Following your consultation, one of our surgeons may refer you for an X-ray, MRI, CT scan or ultrasound to determine whether casting or surgery is required as part of treatment. There will be a follow up appointment made for you at the clinic on Point Finger Road. This may include physiotherapy.

Surgery

After assessing diagnostic imaging, your surgeon will decide if surgery is necessary. You'll have a detailed discussion to make sure you understand the procedure and are comfortable moving forward. Once the consent form has been signed, our friendly administration team will assist you in scheduling the surgery.

  • "Dr. Peckett recommended outpatient hip replacement due to my good health and fitness. Surgery was smooth, my wife collected me from the hospital on the same day at 11:30am and I experienced minimal discomfort. I was given a walker and crutches when leaving the hospital but within days, I ditched these. The only problems I had post surgery were bending to put my socks on and tying my shoe laces but flexibility soon returned. I would have no hesitation in endorsing Dr. Peckett to anyone who meets the health and fitness requirements to have this procedure done as an outpatient."
